This isn't meant to solicit advice, just something I'm curious about. Yes, generally speaking, I tend to place the bass instrument somewhere in the center. But with respect to low-mid sounds/instruments, I tend to prefer them on the left side of a mix, and the high-frequency sounds/instruments on the right. It's not a hard rule for me or anything. It just typically works out that way.
