Pictures for my songs

Long time ago, I used the windows media players song visualisations for my songs to have some pictures on youtube for my songs.

I had a screen recording software and just recordet the pictures and than put song and pic together.

Is there a more straig forward way to let your music play and have some nice visuals for it beeing createt, may be with a little personal tweeking possible?
And of course beeing possible to record and put together with the songs I made?

Here in germany bavaria is a nice sunny day and the birds are singing like mad.
